Owen J.

High school pitcher Owen Johnson suffered a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his elbow during a critical college-recruiting season. When rest and physical therapy failed to heal the injury sufficiently, he underwent UCL repair with an internal brace at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. Johnson committed himself to rehabilitation and returned to the mound just six months after surgery, throwing even harder than he had before the injury. He went on to have the best season of his career, earning conference pitcher and player of the year honors as well as all-state recognition. His comeback renewed interest from college recruiters and earned him the opportunity to continue his baseball career at Wingate University.
